Did July feel extremely long for anyone else? No? Okay, then let’s get right to it…Fangirl Favourites is where I share with you all the nerdy things I loved this month – shops, blogs, comics, products, and whatever else I’ve been obsessing over. So check out what I loved in July:
This might be cheating a little bit because I do write a few features for this blog, BUT I think all the other contributors are doing some amazing things right now. I’m constantly checking the blog to see what’s new and I’m particularly loving the Geek 101: Character Introductions by AJ-Archer as well as the Comic Book Alliance that Travis Grimm is running. There really is something for every geeky interest on the blog, everything from subscription box reviews to DIY so check it out.
I’ve been following Bookworm Boutique on tumblr and instagram for awhile. I’m kind of obsessed with their mugs – especially this one, and this one, but also this one. While I haven’t been able to take the plunge and buy them yet… you better believe I will be adding these mugs to my currently non-existent mug collection ASAP. In the meantime I will just obsess over their pretty pictures on instagram, and wish I was drinking coffee out of my “Professional Fangirl” mug while I blog about nerdy things.
I have had this sweater pinned to my browser for way longer than the month of July…but every day when I go to my browser, the first thing I see is this sweater and my fangirl soul aches that this isn’t in my life yet. I mean, okay…it’s summer and I probably couldn’t wear it yet (although, I’m sure I would try anyways), BUT LOOK AT IT. Captain Marvel fans, you’ve got to be with me when I say this sweater is basically a Carol Corps NECESSITY…right?!
If you haven’t guessed already…I’m kind of, maybe, just a little bit of a Captain Marvel fan. I inherited my parent’s old car at the end of June and immediately felt the need to nerd it up a lil’ bit. I got this decal in the 5 inch yellow design and I absolutely love it.
While I may be a little crushed that my hot pink poly-bag didn’t contain a Matt Fraction & Chip Zdarsky sketch variant, the start of this new Sex Criminals arc definitely made up for that (well…maybe just a little, I’m still pretty sad). While I may be a bit biased with my love of Chip and Matt as a creative team, this issue was one of the funniest in awhile. The jokes, especially the little side notes between Matt and Chip throughout were just great. Sex Criminals is always fun, but this issue in particular was filled to the brim with hilarity..I mean there’s a CSI: Miami joke what more do you need really? This is hands down the best comic I’ve picked up this month.
Divergent Series – Veronica Roth
Volunteering in a library is quite possibly the best thing ever when you’re a bookworm like me. While I usually find it hard to get into YA series, I picked up Divergent at the beginning of the month when I was looking for a fairly easy read – something to break up the really heavy reading and assignments I have to do for my course. I have to say I was VERY surprised. Divergent dug its claws in deep, in that “oh-my-god-i-should-be-sleeping-but-i-need-to-know-what-happens-next” kind of way. Needless to say, when I was done I still wanted more so of course I checked out the second book Insurgent; which I finished earlier this week, and I’ve just started Allegiant. I’m not looking forward to these books ending, but at least I still have the movies to watch.
GIF of the Month:
My boyfriend can attest to how much I’ve used this GIF in our iMessage conversations. If there’s a reason to use Crowley GIFs in everyday text conversations…I will find it.
That’s it for this month’s favourites. Let me know what you think of this feature and whether you’d like to see more of it in the future, and of course, let me know some things you’ve been fangirling about this month!
