Fangirl Favourites – December 2015

Well here we are…there are only a few days left of 2015. As good as 2015 has been, I’m really looking forward to all the exciting things that 2016 has in store for me (pssst…by me, I mean this blog. Lots of exciting things will be happening soon).

But let’s not jump into the new year just yet, there are still favourites to share! Let’s see what I’ve been loving in December:

Young in the City

Noah Gundersen is one of my all-time favourite artists, so when I saw that he released new music with his side-project Young in the City I may have freaked out a little bit. These four songs are AMAZING and have been on repeat for me all throughout December. Check them out below:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I have no problem admitting that I’ve never been that big of a Star Wars fan. I liked the original three movies, but never really got caught up in the hype of it all. So going into The Force Awakens I didn’t have many expectations, and I wasn’t overly-excited like most people were but I was completely taken aback by how great the new movie ended up being.

There will be no spoilers here, I’m simply going to say… YAAAAS STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS THAT DON’T RELY ON MEN. Rey is fantastic, so is BB-8…and pretty much the entire cast if we’re being honest, but yeah. Seeing this movie was definitely a high point for me this month.

Jem and the Holograms Holiday Special

I love Jem and the Holograms, that’s not a secret, but jeeze, they do really amazing specials. Their holiday special this year continued the story-line of the regular issues but added in a really cute holiday twist by having the the Holograms do a Secret Santa exchange with the Misfits. I can’t help but smile and/or laugh pretty much the entire time I’m reading Jem.

Katie from That Geek Online is a fellow geek girl blogger, that just so happens to live in the same city as me (woo!). I came across her blog and YouTube  a few times at the beginning of the year and finally reached out to her a couple months ago. She’s great, and her blog is a really lovely side of the lifestyle/geek girl blogging community that I don’t normally cover here on Geeks & Lattes so go check her out.

Because BB-8.

That’s it for this month’s favourites. Let me know in the comments what you’ve been loving this month, and if you got any awesome geeky things (or just awesome things in general really) over the holidays I’d love to hear about those too.

Have a safe and Happy New Year everyone!

  1. I’m the same way with Star Wars. The originals are alright, but nothing I’ve ever really cared about. More of a Star Trek person myself. But the bf did manage to get me into a theater for the new one and I genuinely loved it. Rae is fabulous and BB-8 is basically the greatest thing ever. There was a particular…event…I was not ecstatic about, but I totally knew it was going to happen. *sigh*

Super excited to have found your blog. I so rarely stumble upon other nerdy bloggers for some reason!

    1. I’m also a bigger star trek fan. It’s what I grew up on, which is why I was surprised by how much I loved the force awakens.
I can’t wait to check out your blog. Yay #girlgang

  2. I’m not really a Star Wars fan either. But I do wanna see it, since I’ve heard it’s fantastic. YES to strong women!!

I checked Katie out and I love her blog! Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. I was the same way with the new Stars Wars movie…I’ve never really been a huge Star Wars fan, but I was very impressed with The Force Awakens! Rae is so awesome (and everyone else of course), haha. 🙂
